Taylor Schapf

“Untouched by triumph, untroubled by failure”

Miss Taylor began dancing when she was five years old. She started with jazz dance and continued with that until she was thirteen years old at which time she branched-out, tried ballet, and fell in love with it! Miss Taylor has completed The Royal Academy of Dance’s Grades 5 to 8 examinations, and Intermediate Foundation to Advanced One Vocational examinations. Throughout the years, she has tried other dance styles including hip-hop, tap, lyrical, and flamenco. She started teaching dance when she was sixteen years old and in 2016, graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance’s Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies program. She has also studied Benesh Movement Notation and holds her IBBFA Barre Teaching Certification. Taylors favourite part of teaching is seeing her students when they are nervous, whether it is the first day of dance, the end of year recital, or ballet exams; and then seeing them come out of that nerve-wracking experience with a big smile asking “Miss Taylor, when can we do that again?”. Outside of teaching, Taylor also work as an office assistant, choreographs for a high school musical theatre program, and is a conditioning coach for a synchronized swimming team. Her favourite hobbies include doing yoga, painting and drawing, roller blading, eating ice cream, and watching Jets games. Miss Taylors teaching style is inclusive, collaborative, creative, disciplined, technical, and fun!
